Cows

Our objective with these pages is to highlight some of the examples of our breeding program rather than produce a list of every one of our animals.

Below is our largest family of cows.  We won't be able to keep all of the animals in this family. Give us a call or send an e-mail if you have an interest in one of them.

The GF Candy Apple Family

    GF Candy Apple was one of the first three Foundation Cows that we purchased.  She has produced heifer after heifer for us.  She has produced four heifers in a row.  Her second Echo heifer was born in May.  She is now being bred to our second herd sire, Refuge Chex, for another Spring calf.  Her dam, OR Cotton Candy, is owned by Panther Creek Ranches.

Name: GF Candy Apple DOB: 5/4/1994  Sire: Joker's Wild Dam: OR Cotton Candy    Picture: August 2002 Well-proportioned cow with high twist horns.  Weight - 1250 lbs.

    "Missy" is a long, deep-bodied young cow.  Candy Apple was purchased heavy-bred to GF Heavy Hitter, then the longest horned bull in the breed, and Missy was the product.  She was a gangly young calf, but she has developed into an impressive young cow.  Horns are clearly going to be a dramatic flat twist.   Her 1997 full sister is owned by A Splash of Color Longhorns.   Missy's outstanding 2003 bull calf out of Echo can be seen on our "Bulls" page.  Her 2004 Echo calf is a dramatic paint heifer with outstanding size and conformation.

Name: RHL Hitter Miss             DOB: February 13, 2001  Sire: GF Heavy Hitter  Dam: GF Candy Apple  Picture: January 11, 2004   Dramatic brindle on light red color. Flat twist horns that are over 50" ttt. Very deep and long bodied.

"Jackie" is a product of AI to G&L Highjacker.  She is long and tall and very feminine.  See her Jan. 2005 heifer, Echo's Empanada, on our 2005 Heifer page.

Name: RHL Apple Jackie             DOB: January 18, 2002  Sire: G&L Highjacker  Dam: GF Candy Apple  Picture: June 2003.   Colorful black on white.  Black horns developing nicely.  Produced a very colorful paint bull calf by Emperor's Echo in December.

Candy Cane is the product of Candy Apple and Emperor's Echo.  Another long smooth heifer.  See her 2005 Turbo Jet heifer calf, Turbo's Caramela, on our 2005 heifer page.

Name: RHL Echo's Candy Cane                    DOB: January 18, 2003  Sire: Emperor's Echo  Dam: GF Candy Apple    Picture: October, 2003 Another heifer with great height and frame.  Look how she carries her depth through the flank.

Name: RHL Echo's Manzanita                    DOB: May 18, 2004  Sire: Emperor's Echo  Dam: GF Candy Apple    Picture: Oct. 31, 2004 She's going to look a lot like her older sister. She weighed 65 lbs at birth.  "Manzanita" is Spanish for 'little apple'.
